Zwei Monate nach dem Brand an Bord der Molly Brown, der zur Evakuierung des Dampfers auf den Rivers of the Far West führte (wir berichteten), liegt das Schiff noch immer im Fahrwasser in der hinteren Biegung. Ursprünglich war erwartet worden, dass die Mark Twain während der Sommermonate wieder den Betrieb aufnehmen könnte und die Molly Brown an ihrer Stelle in das Dock gebracht würde. Jetzt teilen interne Quellen mit, dass beide Boote noch mindestens bis September außer Betrieb sein werden.
Laut entsprechenden Informationen wurde die Generalüberholung der Mark Twain verlängert, um die Sicherheitsmaßnahmen zu erweitern und so einen ähnlichen Vorfall wie auf der Molly Brown zu verhindern. Bis diese zusätzlichen Arbeiten abgeschlossen sind, kann die Molly Brown noch nicht in den Dock und erst dort können die Reperaturarbeiten beginnen. Zudem deuten die Quellen an, dass die Kosten der Instandsetzung sich als Ausschlußfaktor erweisen könnten.

Two month after a fire during operation resulted in the evacuation of the riverboat Molly Brown on the Rivers of the Far West (we reported) the paddle steamer still sits in the rear corner of the Rivers of the Far West. It had been expected that the Molly Brown would move into the dock and the Mark Twain operate during the current busy summer season. Now internal sources have clarified that both riverboats will be out of service till at least September, when the high season ends.
According to this information the scheduled rehab of the Mark Twain has been extended past its original end date as the boat in additional to the regular rehab is also adapted to increase security and prevent a similar accident as happened on the Molly Brown. Till this work is finished and the Molly Brown can move into the dock no repairs are made on the Molly Brown. Even then costs may turn out to be a prohibitive factor as the sources indicate.
Hope that the management would instead revive the Keelboats to offer at least some boat ride attraction in Frontierland proofed wrong.
